Undead names in WoW Forever work best as human names that have gone wrong: familiar roots, hollowed vowels and a surname that smells of the grave. Forever requires a first and a second name and checks the full pair for uniqueness across your region. The generator below builds undead first and last names from original syllables and checks each pair against the Forever naming rules. For undead names outside Forever, try the undead name generator.
Undead first names start from human roots and lose their warmth. The generator keeps the human shape (Mor, Vel, Sar, Kel, Thes) but favours whispered endings such as -thas, -ius, -vex, -dred and -lis: Morthas, Velius, Sarvex, Kelandred. Soft s and th sounds, dropped vowels and a slightly formal feel make the name sound like someone who used to be a noble and is not anymore.
Undead surnames are bleak compounds. The first half comes from decay, night or ritual: Grave, Ash, Rot, Gloom, Shroud, Crypt, Hollow. The second half describes what the character does or what is left of them: whisper, walker, wick, rib, gaze, sworn. Gravewhisper, Ashshroud and Hollowgaze all fit. The family group leans towards sorrow words such as Mourn, Woe and Forgotten, which suit priests and roleplayers.
Class sharpens the choice. Warlocks and mages suit curse and ritual surnames: Hexmorrow, Sigilwick. Rogues and warriors suit blades and bone: Scythebane, Bonegash. The new undead paladin, reported by beta guides, is the most interesting case: a name that mixes a grave root with a vow word, such as Ashsworn, says a lot about the character in two halves.
Undead humour is dark rather than silly, and the Funny & troll tone leans into it with surnames about missing jaws and crumbling bones. Keep those for casual realms; Roleplay rulesets expect believable names.
Each undead character in Forever has a first and a second name, and the complete pair has to be unique across your region. Many players will reach for the same gothic first names, so the surname decides whether your character is available. Choosing a less common root group is the quickest way to stay unique.
The undead remain a Horde race. Guides covering the beta report new race and class pairings in Forever, including the undead paladin, so light and vow words now fit an undead character as well as the shadow and curse roots. The class menu in the generator follows the Forever class list for the undead.
Both parts must be letters only and 2 to 12 characters long. Apostrophes are reported to be rejected, so a style like Mor'thas has to become Morthas, and gothic double letters are fine as long as no letter appears three times in a row.
The first and last name are evaluated together for restricted words, and names that copy well-known characters can be refused, so avoid the names of famous Forsaken leaders.
If you plan several undead characters, one bleak family surname shared across all of them is allowed and reads well in a guild roster, because each full first and last name pair stays unique.
The full list of confirmed and reported limits is on the WoW Forever naming rules page, and the WoW Forever surname generator gives you more last names for this race.
